Budget Programs - see pics below :P

Hello, all!  No blog, no new ST page ... and the "gallery coming soon" page still has an inch of dust on it.  I started a new job a couple weeks ago and my free time for the week [when measured in hours] can be counted on one hand.  On top of a new layer of schedule, my grandmother is in the hospital, so I've been spending a lot of time with family and in the waiting room.  Actually, that's where I'm typing this out.  Unfortunately, I can't update immediate because the control panel for my site is a restricted page on the hospital's wifi network.  So I'll do the copy and paste thing when I get home.

Couple of things, I have a couple of ST sketches I did for fun.  I also have been playing with some image editing programs that are like the super-ultra-lite versions of photoshop.  They're actually pretty fun and I'll include the links to the programs under the test drive pics.

Hope everyone is having a good week, and I'll try to get the next ST page out this coming week.

This grouchy looking fellow was sketched out using TabletDraw.  This program is a very slimmed down sketch program, but it's designed around the feel of real pencils and markers for tablet users.  The lines go down smoother, feel more natural, and you actually have to scrub with the erasers.  There's layers support and multiple export options.

This next pic was done using Acorn.  I really liked the included brush options and the control.  It took me a few minutes to sort things out, but as with TabletDraw, the logic of photoshop is present.

I really like both of these programs already, even though I've just played with them for a few minutes each.  Definitely worth checking out if you don't want to invest in photoshop or you have multiple operating systems that you work with.

A painting that I did with the iphone app called Brushes.

If you would like to see the rest of my little finger paintings done on my iPod, I post them on Flickr.
